Auto syn oil in my V-Rod?

I have an 04 V-Rod. Is it OK to use an auto syn oil such as Mobil 1, Valvolene,
etc. in my bike as long as it's the recommended weight? I've been using Harley syn but the price is outrageous. Also looked into Amsoil, but it's pretty pricey, too.

Welcome!
Any oil for the VROD MUST be wet clutch compatible, or your clutch will slip. SYN3 is
crap, IMHO. Get Amsoil here on the forum, from o2man98(Ken), and it will be shipped to your house.

Mobile -1 is OK as long as it is specifically for Motorcycles. Other brands are available also but must be specifically for Motorcycles because of wet clutch issues.

NO. YOU CAN NOT USE AN AUTOMOBILE OIL IN THE V-ROD.

As stated, AUTO OIL usually contains friction modifiers. These will cause the clutch to slip. Once they soak into the clutch, you can plan on swapping clutch plates.

Mobil makes a version of Mobil 1 that is SPECIFICALLY FOR MOTORCYCLES. You can use it in your V-Rod. Amsoil is also a good oil. As the collective has already stated, Ken can deliver it at prices BETTER than you get at the store.

How about if it is a DIESEL automobile?

Diesel oil sometimes has anti-frothing agents.

I am pretty sure some people use Rotella, then again that is a natural oil and not a Synthetic.
