"Velocity Stack" O-Rings

Just changed my plugs (about 2k late ) and can't figure out what the hell these "Velocity Stack" O-rings are for, other than getting in my way for taking off the Lower Airbox cover.

Are they there to impede the allen bolts from walking up?

Also FYI for anyone changing their plugs for the first time...take note of the tube sticking out of the bottom of the lower airbox cover...it really needs to get back into the hole...otherwise it'll sound like a vacuum leak, will look like an oil leak, and smell like a fuel leak.

Ok, so that fitting coming out of the bottom of the cover, that goes into the block...what's that for? And how important is it that, that PITA gets a good seal on the airbox?

Apparently lining it up, and bolting down the cover isn't enough to ensure a good seal, as I had oil thrown all over my bike by the time I got to work.

I took it back apart at lunch and separated the fitting from the cover and properly mated it with the block, but didn't get it fully mated back into the box...gotta take it apart again when I get home to clean up the oil anyway.

Live and learn

At least it was just messy, and only about half a quart.

1/2 a quart?. It's a breather tube. Should be just a fine mist at worst. mostly just fumes.

I agree the Large O-rings make for odd bolt keepers.
