Need a switched power wire .............

I have added a charger for my GPS when I have it mounted on my bike. Right now I have the power adapter/charger wired directly to the battery but that means the adapter/charger will always be powered. I want to find a wire someplace up front near the battery that is switched off the ignition, that way I can splice in to it so the charger/adapter is only powered when the ignition switch is on.

I have an 06 Night Rod (VRSCD) if somebody has an electrical book and could look that up for me I would appreciate it.

Yeah I thought about that too, but looking at the fuse panel there are some accessory circuits that I might be able to use. The problem is I believe the wires change colors somewhere so when they get forward near the neck they aren't the same body or stripe color. I will use the light circuit if I can't find another circuit that isn't quite so important. Thanks for the suggestion!

run it off the ACC circuit fuse and run a new wire up to the point you need it from that fuse location.

I use the same one for my LEDs... I believe it was an Orange wire on my bike...

I tapped into the wire coming out the back of the ACC fuse socket. There are fuses that have a place to tap a wire as well, but they won't clear the fuse box cover.

How did you splice n to it? Did you use one of those crimp on connectors? My fuse block actually has a couple of extra places that I could use if I had the right connectors. Does yours have that and are you using those spaces too?

I used a crimp connector on the wire coming out of the back (bottom) of the fuse box. On my '03 it is at the rear of the air box. I run that wire to a set of blade connectors in the airbox. Of course I have several things connected....

Use one of these, this is what I used on mine.

Mini Fuse Add-A-Circuit

it replaces one of the current fuses and adds the additional one with a pig tail for you. I picked one up at a local auto parts store for less than 10.00

just make sure you get the mini size since this is the size of our fuses.
