Laptop needed for T-max, any suggestions?

Currently buying a T-max and need a simple laptop that will only be used for that purpose. I have a mac and haven't a clue as to what's worth a shit involving windows OS's "XP,VISTA,7". Or what's compatible with the T-max. Any help would be appreciated. Been looking at dells 10v mini not too expensive.

If you don't want the trouble of buying used go to the dell outlet website. I just checked the 10v and there was one under 300 and several right around 330. That should do just fine for the T-max. I also just checked the T-Max website and it says the software is compatible with Vista, so XP, Vista or Win-7 should be ok....

I use an ASUS 1000HE netbook with my VRFID and I love it. The battery life is EXCELLENT.

I have an IBM thinkpad that I use only for that purpose and anything that requires windows. All other tasks get my macbook pro!

Avoid Vista if you can. I had trouble getting the driver for the Thundermax cable to work. Finally after a call to Zippers they sent a link to a compatable driver. No complaints with Zippers or the Thundermax just with Vista

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

The SmartLink IV software package is designed to run on personal computers using
Microsoft® Windows 2000™, Windows XP™, and Windows Vista™ operating
systems. The computer system must have an adequate amount of free space on the
hard drive for proper operation. SmartLink IV is approximately 140MB when installed.
SmartLink IV no longer supports Windows 98™ or earlier operating systems.

An RS232 Serial Port is required on the computer to allow communication between the
SmartLink IV software and the ThunderMax ECM. A special RS232 communication
cable is included in this package, allowing the user to edit maps and module settings in
the ThunderMax ECM. A high speed internet connection is required for software,
firmware, and Base Map Library updates; as well as the automated Module Data
and Monitor Log Support Emails.

USER REQUIREMENTS

The SmartLink IV software requires basic computer skills to be able to effectively use
the program and achieve your tuning goals. The operator must possess the following
basic skills before attempting to use the software or calling Zipper’s Technical Support:

1.) Basic Windows™ Skills

2.) Ability to Copy and Paste files from one folder to another

3.) Maneuver through a typical Windows™ environment, storing files in
folders and retrieving them when needed.

I have had the race tuner and now have the T-Max and no neither one will work with the Mac. I had XP running on my mac at one time and it still wouldn't work with it. You have to have a real windows machine to do it. And I suggest XP for this task. Stay away from Vista.
