Exactly what causes decell poping

So what is actually happening in that Vance and hines, cfr, ftcat, thunderheader, or whatever you have attached to this wonderful thing (v-rod). So without any bulls__t.... who can explain it?

moving more air through the engine makes it run lean unless you add more fuel either by reprogramming the ecm or adding a fuel mgt system

I had heard that the decell popping can be caused by too much fuel in the manifold and it not burning off. I know with the Thundermax you have a decell pop feature that enables you to tell the ecu when to shut fuel off (at a picked RPM) and when to start it again (at another RPM range).....

Not really too much fuel, but too much air. All flammable gas mixtures have an upper and lower explosive limit... Too lean= no fire... too rich=no fire as well

Normally with an A/F ratio around 14:1 the exhausted (partially burnt) gas is too rich to ignite in the pipe. As the A/F ratio leans out (remember the ecm is still adding fuel assuming the factory CFM airflow setting) because of MORE AIR... the mixture moves within the explosive limits and ignites

The way the feature works is when you have it enabled and you let off the throttle (on decell) lets say at (airheads) 2940 RPM's the fuel shuts off delivery and at 2245 RPM the fuel starts delivery again. You have the capability of putting any RPM you want....With the V-Rod engines this feature is really not needed because it is a much more efficient running engine.
