Turbo fuel mileage

They say the 30 tooth is the way to go with a turbo because it helps to load up the engine making the turbo more efficient.

I average about 35 mpg, with a high of 39 on the highway.

Ooops, sorry Jay- in '04 is when they switched to the 28 tooth (Which is mine).

I haven't ridden a 30 with the turbo so I don't know how much difference you would feel.
One of those things I'm content with and don't see a need to change.
I don't do enough hiway miles usually to really need it any taller.

With the way fuel prices are going, i think it might be more appropriate to talk miles/$!!??

Damn Kurt! I hope I get those numbers when my dyno tune is done.

It's been consistently getting 33-35 mpg in mixed riding. When it got that 39, I was worried...hadn't seen mileage like that since it was new.

Thumbs up Gas Mileage

I average about 32mpg combo riding, more two lane canyon roads than freeway. My problem is I can't stay off the boost! I love the acceleration too much and try to miss every traffic light possible. Plus I too often hit triple digit speeds when riding. I love to hear the turbo spool up under throttle and the blow off valve hiss when you let off. It just doesn't seem to ever get old! The only thing getting really poor mileage is my 200 metz. Old farts need thrill too!

I had an average of 42 mpg 2 times now this year.

Riding at 60mph and it is holding.

I'm running the stock 28 tooth on mine, if I didn't have a new spare belt I would consider changing to a 30 tooth. Some day I will have to try a 5th gear mileage run like at 60-mph. On the two lane roads that I like to ride I'm usually in second or third gear at 60, but still get about 31 or 32-mpg average. My bike was dyno-tuned by Trask so it really runs very clean and strong.

I could be wrong, but I believe the 28 tooth came out with the 06 models.
