    Car advice re: 96 Camaro

I saw this unmolested 96 Camaro (base & stick shift), It has about 10k miles and it looked and smelled like new. It looked like it was a weekend car of the orig owner who passed it to his son who is a v-rod owner who has plenty of ride already. Since this is a 14 yr old car with everything orig.

1)Will there be a lot of parts that will need replacement on type of situation?

2)Is this a high maintenance car or should I say depandable?
I'll be using it about 15k miles yearly mostly stop & go traffic.

I have research in the net and have seen good and not so good reviews And wanted to see if some one here have better input. The owner is asking less than 6k for this car.

    Advice will be greatly appreciated.

Lot's of parts out there especially at u-pull-it junk yards. What motor is in it? they are pretty simple and the drive train normally is bullet proof. It is the other little things (e.g. trim, power windows, gauges, ac) that can have gremlins.

why would someone Want to get into a situation where they needed to go to a junkyard for parts? I understand if you NEED the car because of reasons uncontrollable but to actually Buy it to do so confuses me.
a 14 year old GM? In the Mid 90's when they where just churning out crap that eventually lead to their downfall? I would leave it in THEIR garage.

Lux, thanks for a direct answer.
I wanted to get different views from a wide variety of individuals.
My reason for looking into this is:
My commute car 2003 Neon is getting old and has 113k miles However it is properly updated on maintenance and still runs great with no problems. Then I see this 96 Camaro with less than 11k miles, so I am thinking that I can sell my 6yr old neon for $3k and add $2k to get a car which might run another 75K miles (5yrs of my usage). Then I can also get that old boots that I have, grow long hair and pimp in that 90's car acting like Brett Michaels.

Come on Ladi, go green and get a hybrid.

Then you can bury that big ass toxic battery in a landfill after 100,000 miles.

The "experts" say that it'll be safe, trust them.

With only 10k miles on it,I wonder how many of the inherent problems have been fixed?
You can run the VIN to find out what has been done to it.
There was only 1 campaign issued on this car for spark plug wires. No safety issues that I can find.
The only powertrain problem I ever encountered on these cars was the differential. Some housing weren't welded true and the ring and pinions could not be set up to run quite. The differential banjo's that were welded crooked had to be replaced.
Other than than excessive road noise, they were ok cars to drive.
For me,they are very hard to enter and exit on the drivers side.

The engine and trans make a nice swap to an older S-10.

Here are the problems and related info to this car from GM.
